The Colours of Futuna concert series is back for 2026 with a stunning line up of exceptional musicians performing in the newly restored Futuna Chapel.
Held from 12 April – 5 July this year, Futuna Chapel will host 12 concerts from a diverse collection of musicians including well-known composer and teacher Gary Wilby, harpist Michelle Velvin, saxophone quartet Saxcess and many more.
Series organiser and Futuna Chapel trustee, Simon McLellan describes the outstanding capability of the Chapel as a music venue.
“Futuna Chapel is well-known for its exceptional acoustic quality and we know how much performers and audiences alike enjoy a spectacular musical experience as a result. This year the series welcomes some exciting ensembles that will hopefully appeal to broader audiences like Choro Ao Vento; a Brazilian choro with music originating in Rio de Janeiro”, says Simon.
The concert series highlights the strong connection between the Chapel’s architectural legacy and its cultural role. The intimate venue provides an ideal setting, enhancing the acoustic richness of each performance, and drawing both returning patrons and new audiences alike.
“As the series continues to grow in prominence, it solidifies its reputation as a vital part of Wellington’s musical life, showcasing not only the beauty of Futuna Chapel but also the vibrant talent that thrives within New Zealand’s music scene”, says Simon.
